关于“形势与政策”课程的说明
各位2020年秋季及之后入学的本科新生:
根据教育部“关于加强新时代高校‘形势与政策’课建设的若干意见”,我校自2020年秋季学期起,面向2020年入学的本科新生开设大学核心课程必修课——“形势与政策”。现就课程名称、授课对象、课程性质、考核方式、课程内容、授课形式和出勤记录作说明如下:
1、课程名称:本课程中文名称为“形势与政策”,英文名称为“Contemporary World and China”。
2、授课对象:面向2020年秋季及之后入学的本科新生,在此之前入学的同学无需修读。
3、课程性质:本课程为大学核心课程必修课,学生须满足该课程的学习和考核要求方能毕业。本课程成绩不计入GPA绩点,达到课程要求,记为S”(Satisfactory),没有达到课程要求,记为U”(Unsatisfactory)。
4、考核方式:要求在大二学年结束之前,至少参加10场“形势与政策”系列讲座。因此,同学参加讲座的次数达到10次即为“S”,少于10次即为“U”。
5、课程内容:本课程以教育部发布的《高校“形势与政策”课教学要点》为核心,围绕当前国内外形势和国内政策、高等教育改革和大学生成长等主题展开学习与研讨,帮助同学们正确认识新时代国内外形势,准确理解国家发展基本方略,传承和弘扬爱国主义精神。
6、授课形式:本课程采用系列讲座的形式进行,组织“形势与政策”大讲堂,每学年邀请校内外的专家学者,就国内外政治、经济、文化、科技、教育、法制、军事、外交等热点时事进行专题讲座。讲座信息将通过电子邮件向全体同学公开发布。
7、出勤记录:在启用电子记录器之前,使用纸质签到条。同学们每次参加讲座,入场时记得领取签到条,填写相关信息,在讲座结束后提交给在场的管理人员,我们将以现场收取的签到条为依据登记同学的出勤次数。

Notice on the Course “Contemporary World and China”
(Applicable for undergraduate students admitted in 2020-21 academic year)

Dear Students (who was admitted in 2020-21 academic year and beyond),
According to the requirement of the Ministry of Education, a new course titled “Contemporary World and China” is offered from Semester 1 of 2020-21 academic year. Please read the below information carefully and ensure that you completely understand the requirements of this course.
1. Course Title: Contemporary World and China
2. Target Student: All undergraduate students admitted in 2020-21 academic year and beyond are required to take this course. Undergraduate students admitted in 2019-20 academic year or before are not required to take the course.
3. Course Category: This course is a compulsory course as part of the General Education Programme. Students shall complete the course for graduation.
4. Course Assessment: Students are required to attend at least 10 lectures on “Contemporary World and China” within their first two years of study. The grade result of this course will not be included in the GPA calculation. Upon completion of 10 lectures, students will be given a Grade S (Satisfactory). For those who attend fewer than 10 lectures, students will be given a Grade U (Unsatisfactory).
5. Course Content: Based on Key Points of Teaching and Learning of Contemporary Word and China issued by the Ministry of Education, this lecture series will focus on the critical topics relevant to the characteristics of current international and domestic situation, higher education reformation, and university student growth. The objective of this course is to enable students to profoundly understand the domestic and international situation of the New Era, grasping the basic strategy of development of China, as well as preserving and promulgating the spirit of patriotism.
6. Teaching Mode: This lecture series will invite some influential scholars from the UIC and outside the college to give special lectures on current events in politics, economics, culture, science and technology, education, the legal system, arts, diplomacy, military and academic research at home and abroad. All lecture information will be sent to all students via email by the college in due course.
7. Attendance Record: Before utilizing digital devices to keep records of attendance, a sign-in paper note will be available. All the students are required to pick up a sign-in paper note and fill in relevant information before entering the lecture venue. When leaving the lecture venue, students are obligated to submit the filled paper note to the staff. Students’ overall attendance rate will be calculated by the numbers of sign-in paper note.
