ENG2233 Academic Writing with AI

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

This course aims to equip undergraduate students with the necessary skills to effectively utilise Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools across various aspects of academic writing. Students will learn specific prompt engineering techniques tailored to academic writing tasks and will develop proficiency in AI-assisted editing to enhance text accuracy while preserving the author’s original voice. They will also learn to employ AI tools for efficient academic research, including literature searches, summarisation, and reference management. Furthermore, the course will enable students to critically analyse ethical considerations related to the use of AI in academic writing. Emphasis will be placed on cultivating independent learning strategies for working with AI, thereby allowing students to further develop their AI-assisted writing skills beyond the classroom environment.

COURSE INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES (CILOS)
