SPAN1003 Spanish II

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

The aim of this course is to further develop student’s knowledge of the Spanish language and  continue working on the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing skills; as well as a higher range of basic grammar and pronunciation rules. Upon successful completion of this course, students will attain the upper A1 range of competency within the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR) of Spanish Language (A1.2) in the language skills mentioned above. Students will also gain a view of Spanish and Latin American cultures and develop “intercultural literacy” at an upper basic level.

Upon successful completion of the course,    students should be able to:


CILO 1

Demonstrate   an extended basic knowledge of   Spanish pronunciation and intonation.


CILO 2

Comprehend   and engage in more elaborate conversations with   Spanish speakers on topics learnt during the course demonstrating cross-cultural awareness.


CILO 3

Analyse   more complex texts and answer   in own words the questions about the texts; and write more elaborate   essays on the topics learnt during the course demonstrating cross-cultural awareness.


CILO 4

Recognize and display intercultural competence   appropriate to the course level.
