AIMS & OBJECTIVES
This course is designed for students who are interested in Spanish Arts, Monuments and Sites. Spain is one of the countries with the most UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a great example of safeguarding and protecting its heritage. This course will introduce and offer an exploration of Spanish past and present in terms of monumental sites. A variety of audio-visual materials will be used and provided during the course in order to facilitate students’ appreciation of the rich Historical Sites and Heritage from Spain, from the ancient period to contemporary time using monuments, mythology, traditional legends, and fine arts as the main way of instruction through a timeline.
Students will be expected to engage with the course content through discussion, providing related topics and relevant opinions about the importance of historical heritage, safeguarding and protection, as well as monuments, fine arts, and heritage appreciation. In this course students are encouraged to broaden their knowledge and worldview of diverse fields taking the Spanish Heritage, Historical Sites, Monuments, Myths and Legends through several Fine Arts as a good example of valuing the past, culture protection and art perception.

CILO 1 | Evaluate the importance of protecting and safeguarding historical monuments and sites in order to preserve the cultures, traditions and societies from the past, present and future of humankind. |
CILO 2 | Recognize and analyse aspects of the diverse Spanish Historical Sites, Art and Monuments such as Ancient Greek and Roman Archaeological Sites, Medieval Cathedrals, Mosques and Synagogues, famous Artworks. |
CILO 3 | Demonstrate creativity, analytical and problem-solving skills related to academic tasks, independently and in a team, related to the course content. |
