The School of General Education (SGE)

The School of General Education (SGE) was established in September 2022, and is dedicated to providing and developing a range of university core courses, offered through the three centres: Chinese Language and Culture Centre (CLCC) / Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Centre (PPEC), Centre for Foreign Languages (CFL) and Whole Person Education Centre (WPEC). The School also offers a postgraduate programme: Master of Arts in Communication (Sports, Health and Communication Concentration).

Chinese Language and Culture Centre (CLCC) / Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Centre (PPEC) aims to impart knowledge in disciplines such as Chinese language, literature, history, and philosophy through innovative teaching and a series of academic and cultural activities—including lectures, seminars, and creative competitions. The centre offers university core courses, general electives, Chinese language programs for international students, and PPE Courses. Guided by the principle of fostering virtue and nurturing talent, the centre focuses on the concept of "holistic ideological and political education", and supplemented classroom teaching with practical learning, enabling students to appreciate the value and charm of Chinese language and culture.

Centre for Foreign Languages (CFL) is committed to providing students with a comprehensive range of language courses. The centre offers mandatory university core English courses as well as a wide variety of English electives, in addition to multiple foreign language programs, delivering a rich language and cultural education. Its language instructors, coming from around the world, possess profound teaching experience in their respective language fields. The centre adopts an interactive small-class teaching model to ensure active student participation in the classroom. Here, students not only learn the languages of different civilizations but also delve deeply into the rich connotations of world cultures through various cultural and general education courses, laying the foundation for a global perspective in their personal development.

Whole Person Education Centre (WPEC) supports BNBU' s Whole Person Education through five experiential learning modules: Emotional Intelligence, Experiential Arts, Voluntary Service, Environmental Awareness, and Healthy Lifestyle. In addition, WPEC organizes off-campus programs and extra-curricular activities to deepen students’ learning experience. WPEC also established varsity teams to carry forward the spirit of sports, enrich students’ college life, and enhance exchange with other universities, winning multiple awards in local, regional and national sports competitions.

Master of Arts in Communication (Sports, Health and Communication Concentration) aims to provide students with the cutting-edge interdisciplinary knowledge and skills in sport and health management as well as communication campaigns needed for healthy living in the new normal society.

In addition, the School provides students with support and opportunities through various clubs, events, cultural activities and learning support programmes.
