Centennial History of the Communist Party in Red Patriotic Songs

On 2nd November 2021 Prof. Hui Liu, a famous tenor and music educator, delivered a lecture on “Centennial History of the Communist Party in Red Patriotic Songs” at UIC. The lecture was co-organized by the Whole Person Education Office and the Party Committee Office. Prof. Tao Tang, President of UIC, hosted the lecture and expressed his very warm welcome to Prof. Liu.



In his lecture Prof. Liu introduced the history and development of red patriotic songs, and showed videos representing classic red songs from different periods. He explained the link between the songs and Chinese ideology and the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, which were influenced by Chinese music culture and various historical periods of the Chinese Revolution. Prof. Liu said "Red music is an important part of Chinese music culture, and we should inherit and develop the spirit of red music."

At the end of the lecture, Prof. Liu performed a classic red song entitled “Me and My Motherland”. Further performances were given by two young sopranos, Ms. Kun Wang and Prof. Zhao, who sang two red classics for teachers and students.
