The 2023 finals of the FLTRP ▪ ETIC Cup “Understanding Contemporary China” National Foreign Language Contest for university students was held in Beijing on 4th December 2023, with UIC students Zhou Ziqian and Li Xiang winning silver awards in the English Speaking contest, and Yang Xiwen winning the bronze award in the English Interpretation contest.

The Opening Ceremony of the SGE Student Coursework Exhibition was successfully held on 17 April 2024 at T4-203 Staff and Student Activities Centre. The third “The World of English” Cup National English Writing Competition (online) for College students in 2023 ended on January 26, 2024. UIC sophomore student Gao Qiyue majoring in accounting, won the national first prize in Group C competition, and Dr. Gabby Cai guozhi won the award of excellent instructor.

UIC Lion Dance and Dragon Dance Team participated in the 15th National University Students Lion Dance and Dragon Dance Championship hosted by Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) on August 23rd. 2023, achieving great success and winning many awards. UIC ranked top in five performance items and won prizes in the overall score of teams. Additionally, the team gained Sports Ethics and Style Award in both Lion Dance and Dragon Dance projects, with teacher Han Ying wining Sports Ethics and Style Award Coach, YiYao Zi, Jiayi Wang and Hongyu Lu winning Sports Ethics and Style Award Athlete. Behind the grand success was the team’s great effort and dogged perseverance, revealing the value of UIC’s liberal arts education.

From August 22nd to August 26th, UIC Health Qigong Team competed against 900 athletes from 180 universities nationwide in 2023 National University Students Health Qigong Championship and achieved great results. In group competitions, the team won the second prize in the section of Baduanjin and Taiji Stick Health Preservation Exercises. In individual competitions, Mr. Li Bowen won the first prize in Men’s Taiji Stick Health Preservation Exercises section and Ms. Xia Yudi won the fourth prize in Women’s Da Wu section. For Women’s Five-Animal Exercises and Men’s Baduanjin, Ms. Zhou Yiqin and Mr. Zeng Jiale won the fourth prize and sixth prize respectively. Besides, the title of Sports Ethics Athlete was awarded to Ms. Xia Yudi and the title of Sports Ethics Coach to Mr. Fang Wenze. Upholding the value of UIC’s liberal arts education and whole person education, the team members have shown the spirit of traditional Chinese Qigong and will carry it on with joint hard work.

In November 2022 the UIC Yayue Orchestra participated in the first Zhuhai University Arts Season Competition series, winning two 3rd prizes in dance competition, as well as achieving two 3rd prizes in traditional music competition.
