On 24th September 2021 Dr. Yanjun WENG, Director of Jingdezhen Royal Kiln Museum and Director of Jingdezhen Ceramic Archaeology Institute, delivered a lecture on "Early Globalisation from the Perspective of Ceramic Archaeology" at UIC.
Dr. WENG summarized the history of porcelain’s development and the trade routes of antique porcelain. He introduced the different features of ancient celadon, glazed porcelain and porcelain stone by showing pictures of famous pieces from different dynasties. He further explained the concept of archaeology and its methodology, and shared details of his archaeological work at Nansha Island.
At the end of the lecture, Dr. WENG spend some time to interact with the audience, listening to their ideas and discussing about archaeology and its future. The event was organised successfully and the audience would expect to attend more lectures like this in the future.
