WPEO Off-campus summer programmes focused on providing chance of experiential learning to UIC students, in order to enhance their capability in many aspects to become a whole person.

Adream Coach Training Programme [GONG Yiru, Year 2]

I became a volunteer of Adream Coach Training programme in this July and I provided voluntary services on development and promotion of well-rounded education in some cities of Jiangxi Province during the 15-days programme. I practiced my organisational and problem-solving skills through the related voluntary works. I am grateful I could study at UIC as I benefited from the whole person education at UIC and now I am happy and contented I could give something back to society. I will continue to provide voluntary services in future.

Chan Program [GONG Sibei, Year 3]

Busy life style in city makes us anxious and depress and the distraction caused by mobile phone and other high-tech devices makes us , therefore,  I decided to join the Zen Trip organised by WPEO and I spent the 9 days in five ancestor temple, Huangmei and Guoan Temple, Huangzhou. During the 9-days, I had mindfulness training taught by professional masters, activities covered walking meditation, Flower arrangement, play Guqin and writing scriptures. After the 9-days of practicing meditation and engagement of self-cultivation, I become clear about some problems confused me before and I felt full of contentment. I also learnt how to calm down myself when I am anxious and create moments of quiet introspection.

Silk Roads Excursion [SONG Jiaxuan, Year 2]

If you would like to witness the golden sunrise from the desert, challenge yourself by climbing mountains from bottom of valley and view magnificent and beautiful snowy mountains and unique frost,  the 13 days Silk Roads Excursion is the best choice as this programme enabled us to experience all the activities mentioned above. However, the thing makes this trip precious and unforgettable was the team spirit we created between us.

Tibetan Cultural Excursion [LI Mao, Year 2]

A long-waited trip to Tibet has happened as expected this July, along with other 12 team members leaded by WPEO teacher, we headed to Tibet. We were impressed with the spectacular landscapes we have been in Tibet. We appreciated the quietness of Basum Lake and Namtso and the magnificent and beautiful view of Arlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon. We also attended the historical lesson that The Potala Palace delivered to us and make our wishes to Namcha Barwa. However, the most precious experience was that we met local Tibetan people, they are passionate and nice. We spend quality time together and new friendship developed among us.

Equestrian Programme [Ma Wei, Year 4]

I was glad I took part in the Equestrian Programme this summer even I have already attended different Equestrian Programmes twice previously. I started to learn the advanced riding skills this time as I have already had basic knowledge of horse riding. I struggled a little bit as I was failing to work with my horse in the beginning of the programme. However, I overcame the challenge with my persistence and I really enjoyed the course and the experience of “Learn by practice”. I often recall the moments of sitting on the horseback while the horse was running, the wind was howling and the blue sky was so close to me. It was like I was running in the sky.
