The 2024 Guangdong Collegiate English Speaking Contest (广东省大学生英语演讲比赛) is coming! Alongside the Speaking Contest, there are four sub-contests: Reading, Writing, Translation and Interpretation. Last year, our UIC students showcased exceptional talent, securing an impressive total of 13 prizes in the Provincial Contest, and a superb 3 prizes in the National Contest. This November, we are proud to host the Provincial Contest for the second time.

To select the best candidates to represent UIC for the Provincial Contest, we will hold a series of campus round contests. The UIC Speaking Preliminary Rounds are scheduled on both April 10th and 24th. The first round will shortlist the top 30 students, amongst whom 15 will be selected in Round 2. The chosen 15 students will have the opportunity to take part in specialized training sessions. The Final Round, planned for early next semester, will choose the top 5 contestants who will represent UIC for the Provincial Contest in November.

In addition to the Speaking Contest, we encourage you to register for Reading, Writing, Translation and Interpretation Sub-contests. Further details regarding these four sub-contests will be announced in due course. After the Final Round of the Sub-contests, the best contestants will also be chosen to represent UIC for the Provincial Contest.
