The School of General Education (SGE)

The School of General Education (SGE) was established in September 2022, committed to providing and developing a variety of university core courses which form an integral part of the general education curriculum. The courses are offered through three key centres: the Chinese Language and Culture Centre (CLCC), the English Language Centre (ELC), and the Whole Person Education Centre (WPEC). The School also offers a postgraduate programme: Master of Arts in Communication (Sports, Health and Communication Concentration).

Chinese Language and Culture Centre (CLCC) plays a key role in practicing the ideal of liberal arts education of BNBU. It devotes to promoting Chinese language and culture by offering interactive and creative courses as well as multiple academic events to bring students fresh experience of Chinese culture appreciation while introducing students to contemporary social, political and economic studies of China.

English Language Centre (ELC) delivers mandatory and elective courses to all students in BNBU. During their first and second years of study, students attend University Core English classes to help prepare them for the language requirements in academic study. Students can also select from a wide range of more specialised free elective English courses.

Whole Person Education Centre (WPEC) offers curricular courses of WPE Experiential Learning and Healthy Lifestyle. In addition, WPEC organizes off-campus programs and extra-curricular activities to deepen students’ learning experience, and advises a wide range of student interest clubs.

Master of Arts in Communication (Sports, Health and Communication Concentration) aims to provide students with the cutting-edge interdisciplinary knowledge and skills in sport and health management as well as communication campaigns needed for healthy living in the new normal society.

In addition, the School provides students with support and opportunities through various clubs, events, cultural activities and learning support programmes.
